                                        May 1, 2010

      Dear Parents,

Welcome Spring!  The trees are blossoming and the birds are singing God’s song of celebration.bird_house_lg_clr

bvm_035_tnWe set this month aside to honor our Blessed Mother, Mary.  We seek Her guidance and protection in our daily lives just as She guided Jesus as He grew.

bread&wineThe second grade received their First Holy Communion on May 1st.  What a beautiful day for the children, their families and friends.  Thank you, Mrs. Kienzle, for preparing them so beautifully.

Concert -notes_002 Mrs. Reynolds is busily preparing the children for the Spring Concert.  The concert is an integral part of the music program, and all students are required to be present for the concert. The costume list is attached. The date this year is Thursday, May 20 at 7:00 PM in the Family Center.   Children must be in their classrooms at 6:45 PM.  All students must have their costumes on Wednesday, May 19, for dress rehearsal.singers

All children will participate in the finale.  Please be attentive to all performances.  It is very unfair to Mrs. Reynolds and the children on stage when there is talking and movement in the hall during their performances.  Keep aisles clear so that the children can move freely in and out of the hall.

ice cream dishThe PTO will sponsor an Ice Cream Sale after the concert - much easier than the lines at Friendly’s!

Memorial Day Holiday - Monday, May 31 is Memorial Day.  There is no school that day!

Uniform Measurement - Representatives from Student Styles will e at school on May 11, from 9:00 - 11:00 AM to measure for the 2010-11 school year.  You also have the option of being measured at the store in Latham.  Order forms are enclosed in this family envelope.

Family Survey - Attached is the Family Survey which needs to be filled out by each family enrolled in school this year.  This survey gives us the numbers needed to obtain our federal and state funding.  Do not check or circle your income level.  Use it as a reference level to answer the “yes” or “no” questions.  All information is confidential.  No names are ever used.  Please return this form Thursday, May 6th

Text Book Loan Forms -schoolbook As we prepare to close out this school year, we are gearing up for the next.  Over the next two weeks, textbook loan forms will be going home.  Pupil name, etc., will need to be completed at the top and signed at the bottom by the parent or guardian.  There are no fees involved - it is just a formality; however, we must forward a copy for each student to either the Albany City School District or appropriate outlying district.  When you receive the forms, they must be returned to this office IMMEDIATELY.  This is just to give you a heads-up that the forms will be going home soon!

Summer School Policy - The passing average for All Saints Catholic Academy arg-school-kid-bg-59x97-url is 75%.  If a student fails one or two subjects for the year, he/she is required to attend summer school and pass those subjects.  If a student fails more than two subjects, he/she must repeat the school year.  Summer school is not an option in that case.

Summer school may also be recommended for students who are having difficulty in a particular subject area.  This recommendation should not be taken lightly.

Medical Supplies - If children have inhalers or EPI pens, please make sure we have one with the doctor’s order in school.  It is allergy season and they are outdoors more often.  The allergy season exacerbates breathing problems during P.E. class and also at the Race for Education.

Race for Education - On Friday, May 14, we will have our Race for Education (Rain Date -

May 21).  What a spirit-filled day this is for students and faculty - especially, after all of those NYS testing days.  Attached is a letter filled with information.  Lunch, that day, is on us.  If you can help, please contact Stacy Marando (489-3151).runners 2

golf flagCalling All Golfers - On Tuesday, June 29, All Saints Catholic Academy will hold its annual Golf Tournament at the Colonie Country Club.  The proceeds benefit All Saints Catholic Academy.   It is a full day of fun.  Lunch, snacks and beverages on the course, cocktail hour and dinner.  We will also need registration table people and hole watchers.  All volunteers receive lunch.  This is your school - consider helping for a few hours or come and golf!  Any questions?  Please don’t hesitate to call school.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Trips - There are many class trips coming up.  Please pay close attention to the calendar.
